How I Created My Intro: Watercolor TV

create intro youtube

When I set out to start vlogging on youtube. I knew a tv would be involved. Since technically speaking posting videos on youtube is creating your own channel, tv channel. Most of us, watch tv from our devices these days. So here you have it, my tv for my channel. Sharing this process with you is to shine a light on the journey you are on, creating your channel, starting a BBQ team, working on a book cover, decorating your home or some other creative process. We all gain inspiration from each other no matter what the task.

Please like, comment, share and subscribe.

Shine,
Ashley

Wednesday Words

Most of us know October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but did you know it's also Liver Cancer Awareness Month!? #isupportboth

As a 14 year liver cancer survivor, I want to continue spreading the word because it's real. It touches the lives of real people.

I created this journal page last October.

Over the course of a few days I gathered as many things green possible.

Things I used:

Green stamp
Green owl
Green button
Green pens
Green markers
Green ribbon
Green scrap paper
Green scrap material
Green scrap ribbon
Green hearts
Green glitter

Ways you can support:

Wear a green hat
Wear green scrubs to work
Tie a small green ribbon at your desk
Change your profile picture to green
Make a green wreath with scrap green material, ribbon ect.
Write with a green pen
Use a green sharpie
If you support breast cancer awareness this month wear a green bracelet or put a small green ribbon on your pink shirt. #isupportboth
Paint your nails green
Wear a green head band
Notice green
Use a green bookmarker
Use green eyeshadow
Use green napkins and plates
Create a green journal page
Chew green gum
Play I spy GREEN
Create a green board and pin anything green on Pinterest

In honor of Liver Cancer Awareness Month let's rock out the green! #october

Everything

In my morning quit time before the children awake
on this glorious summer day,
I reflect back at some old notes
written in my journal at the beginning of the summer!

Here's another turtle findings by our dog,
I wondered what she was tossing around
and chewing like a bone.
When I suddenly realize it was a turtle!
Bless his little heart, see the little
scratches on his outer shell!?

and the doggie lay rest in disappointment
I took the turtle away,
while the turtle lay
in his new home!

This little piggy went to the
MARKET! My youngest daughter
loves to treat us by making us
chocolate chip muffins...

I heart summer mornings!
I heart my quit time!

A reminder to myself,
what I struggle with
is not who I am!

This may TAKE awhile

Remember the start of the gesso-book-pages
in one of my books!?
Well I wanted to give you an update
and keep you up to date
on how it's going!

Iris sketch

I am currently listening to Junelle Jacobsens The Art of Wild Abandonment workshop. I know your thinking how does this girl have time for this, but for me to have someone to listen to that thinks along the same line as me from a creative process just gives me piece to move forward on my own art. All while I learn something new along the way, right!? Junelle has a blog,
http://yesandamenblog.bloodspot.com/
If you would like to learn more about her.
She is fantastic!

Here is a art journal page I did while listen to the first weeks project in the workshop! Junelle worked with multiple owls, which I loved, but I wanted to work on something in multiples of my own. One of the biggest things she encourages is pay attention to what's around you, being a photographer myself differently gives me that eye of training to find such stuff around me.

I share here with you an art journal page of an iris. The art journal used is the one I started in a copy of one of my books. Notice the rock trail and the background is the pine straw.

my wheels to spinning...so I created this ornament! Isn't she cute!?!?

and then some She Art face ornaments, cute!

all of these ornaments are on my tree this year, they look great
along with everything else!

Memorial Day weekend while spending time with some friends
they taught us the game of Peanuts-a card game!
Blown away at first due to the spend of the game and how
well they played, when they left we mastered the game.
So for lots of summer fun we spent lots of our time playing Peanuts...

Below are the rules for playing Peanuts, I found on ehow.com!

Rules of the Peanuts Card Game

Peanuts is a card game that relies on a combination of speed and patience. (It also has other names, such as Pounce, Nerts and Squeal). It involves players using their own personal deck of cards to create different piles of cards while trying to get rid of all cards in one specific pile. It can be played by any number of multiple players but is best with two to four.

  1. Cards and the First Piles

    • Each player uses his own personal card deck, and each deck must differentiate from the others (they must have different backs). Players deal 13 cards from their deck in front of them, with the top card face up; this is the peanuts pile. They then deal four cards side by side next to the peanuts pile to form the work piles. The remaining deck is the stock; it can be placed face down on the table or held in one hand.

    Playing Cards

    • All players play their cards at the same time, with the intent of removing all cards from the peanuts pile. Any face-up Ace on their side of the table is placed in the middle of the table to start a foundation. Players build foundations by playing the next highest card of the same suit---a Two of Clubs goes on top of an Ace of Clubs---until the king of that suit ends the foundation. They can also play any of their face-up cards onto one of their work piles. but the work piles are built in descending value and alternating colors (a Seven of Hearts goes on an Eight of Spades). When a peanuts card is played, the top card of that pile is flipped face-up. When one work pile's cards are all played, the top card from the peanuts pile forms a new work pile.

    Waste Piles

    • When players cannot play any cards, they draw three cards from their stock and lay them face up on their end of the table. This is called the waste pile, and its top card can be played just like all the other piles. Any time players can't play a card, they draw three from the stock and add them to the waste pile. When the stock runs out, a player picks up the waste pile and turns it face down to reform the stock.

    Scoring

    • Play ends when one player runs out of peanuts cards and calls out "Peanuts," and then points are tallied. Players get a point for every card from their deck within the foundations (this is why you need different-looking decks). They then lose two points for every card still within their peanuts piles. They then reclaim all their cards and shuffle the decks, and play begins again. This continues until at least one player reaches a pre-determined score (usually 100 points), and then the one with the most points wins.

Judy Moody and The Not Bummer Summer
cute, cute movie
only the time we went to see was sold out....
we bought tickets for later that day!

I smeared green, blue and yellow lightly on the background
pasted the movie ticket
pasted a picture we took and had printed that day, which got lost in the machine
and we had to wait twice as long as we thought just to get one print each
painted a box of popcorn and a movie wheel

If your thinking of doing an art journal, google art journaling
you can find lots of other blogs/websites with ideas
and tutorials on youtube.

For starters here is a great site, artjournaling.blogspot.com

At the first of the summer the kids and I watched Justin Bieber Never Say Never DVD,
it was really good. I even enjoyed it!
From that moment on my youngest fell head over hills for Justin,
I spent most of my summer listening to his music and looking
for t-shirts he appeared on.

So when it came time for page 2 in our art journal guess what the theme was !?
Justin Bieber
The first page of our art journal went so well
that we couldn't wait to do page two. I let them pick the theme.
Justin it was.
We looked through magazines to find pictures of him
and then for the most part I just doodled! One good thing about an art journal
is there is no wrong or right way...

I used a clipping of Justin from a magazine my daughter had
white and purple paint
my favorite black pilot pen

ArT journaling

A friend recently said to me,
"i can't find enough stuff to do
with my time to keep me from getting
bored." My response, "i can't find enough time
to get everything done I want to do."

The difference in people!
Is she right or wrong!?
Am I right or wrong!?
My answer to both is NO!!!

I truly believe everyone looks for that
balance every hour, day, week, month
and year. Managing our time, managing our life!
speed up, slow down

Just like the time I set aside this school year
to focus on my ART. The first week went good.
I worked on a few things from finishing a painting I started
last year, starting and finishing a new painting, working on
some mail art, and sketching a face for the first time since
junior high. I wanted to write one big blog post showing
you everything at one time, but
that would be a disservice to you and I both! Look
for those to come in the days and weeks ahead...

For now let's start here...

ART JOURNALING

art journaling is a collection of creative techniques
shared to express yourself.

This summer, I wanted to challenge my
kids to make more art. Each summer and
really all year long it plays a big part of our life,
but I wanted to take a different approach to it.
Something I would enjoy too!

I feel everyone is a creative beginning!

Creativity comes in many shapes and sizes. From with-in
a kitchen, a garden, a written page, a walk, a room-decorating,
and even a art studio. Check this video out below...
You just might be more creative than you realize!

I got the idea to do the art journal from a magazine called Art Journaling.

I bought the girls and I a 5.5x8 watercolor journal
from Hobby Lobby(see picture below). The thickness of the pages
caught my eye, not that they were watercolor. We used what paint,
tissue paper, scrap paper, markers, pens etc. we had on hand. I stressed
the fact of working on a budget and working with stuff you
might already have.

my first Art Journal page

The first page theme was "my first art journal"

I encouraged them to
*use 5 to 9 colors
*write summer 2011
*write their name
*plan out their page before jumping in-just be creative!
*to write around the outer edge what summer means to them.

I used tissue paper-the white and pink at the top of page,
green and pink paint, black pen, scrapbook paper cut in circles-bottom of page,

This Art Journal project was a way for
the kids and I to share our
creativity on a new level, trying new things. I enjoyed
watching them work along the way and they did me as well.
Each piece kept together in the journal was a big plus, so that we don't
have tons of canvas laying around, that more than likely would
end up in storage somewhere.

They had so much fun!

Look for page two in my art journal next week!

and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom,
with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills—
to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze,
Exodus 35:31-32

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
